Adversity

I believe we all go through hardships at some point in our lives, it is part of life. But in the moment, when we are faced with these challenges, we seem to forget that these hardships are a part of life. We tend to pull out our victim card and make it all about ourselves, in the sense that we think that it is only our individual self that is inflicted with such difficulties. It is this mindset that pulls us down into a state of negativity and hopelessness. We think that the world is out to get us, that all odds are against us and of how unfortunate we are. We dwell in the pain, in the suffering, in the hardship, with little effort to solve and feeble sign of acceptance for what is. We complain. We become raged with anger, with denial and all other emotions. We deem ourselves as unlucky or we blame ourselves.

Over the years I believe I have been faced several challenges and hardships that seemed unbearable and unfortunate. Things that threatened to shake my being and cause havoc within myself. I would go about the road of victimizing and self-pity. I would dwell in the pain, in the suffering for much too long, with little acceptance for what was and smaller efforts to move on. But every time, no matter how long it took to get to this point, I always refused to let me slip off, I always took strength in the bigger picture, in making an impact in life, in purpose and in living a meaningful life. I refused to let my inner self parish over before doing what I wanted to do in life and before experiencing so much more. This generated a hope in me, a determination to combat all the challenges and hardships I am faced with in the best way I can and never to give up. I developed a fighting spirit.

Gradually after each challenge or hardship I would always notice a change in me, sometimes small, other times big. I saw growth in me, I saw the wisdom gained, I never forgot the hurt I felt. The lessons that I gained from my challenges and hardships became gems of guidance and the wisdom I gained from dealing with these challenges and hardships gave me the gift of discernment and growth.

Although there is great suffering in adversity, adversity is there to grow us, to teach us lessons and to mould us into the best versions of ourselves. Shift your perspective, see every challenge and hardship you are faced with as a something to grow you or as a lesson. Ask yourself; what is this teaching me?

We need the negative goods as much as we need the positive goods. Life would be of lower value if we never experienced suffering or pain.

I hope that this has helped you with whatever you may be going through or has taught you a new insight. Keep going strong.

Take care.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE CHALLENGES I GO THROUGH BECAUSE THE MAKE ME WHO I AM.
